The ELCB′s electric leakage(residual current) protection function
offers indirect touch protection when person gets an deadly
electric shock. It also can prevent the electrical fire as a result
of over-current protection device which can′t detect the earthing
fault.The ELCB′s rated residual operating current can be adjusted,
electric leakage protection operating time also can be adjust, so
it has selective protection in power distribution system.When the
rated residual operating current is set up as 30mA, and the
relevant protection device was failed,it also has the protection
function of direct contact.

Purpose:
The main purpose of earth leakage protectors is to prevent injury
to humans and animals due to electric shock.
Operation:
An ELCB is a specialised type of latching relay that has a
building's incoming mains power connected through its switching
contacts so that the ELCB disconnects the power in an earth leakage
(unsafe) condition.
The ELCB detects fault currents from live to the earth (ground)
wire within the installation it protects. If sufficient voltage
appears across the ELCB's sense coil, it will switch off the power,
and remain off until manually reset. A voltage-sensing ELCB does
not sense fault currents from live to any other earthed body.
